In 2014, when I first discovered Lake Bled, a dream took shape within me, a grand and bold dream. To one day navigate these crystal-clear waters aboard a Polynesian canoe, a va’a, symbol of distant horizons and ancestral traditions. The years passed, but this dream did not fade.

On June 2, 2021, this dream became a reality. Living in Slovenia, the quest for a va’a was not simple, far from its oceanic cradle. It had to be imported from Poland, one of the few places in Europe where these canoes are crafted, respecting the traditional V1 model.

That morning, under a pure and peaceful sky, the canoe glided gracefully over the clear waters of Bled, as an extension of my thoughts. Each stroke of the paddle seemed to echo a dream fulfilled, every ripple of the water whispered the meeting of two worlds, that of the Alpine mountains and the islands of the Pacific.
